      Ⅴ、知識梳理:

      一、過去進行時:表示在過去某一時間內正在進行的動作。

      構成:was / were + 現在分詞(其中was是am、is的過去式,were是are的過去式)

      e.g. I was doing my homework then . 那時,我正在做作業。

      用法:1)過去進行時表現過去某一時刻正在進行的動作。

      e.g. She was writing a letter when I came in .我進來時,她正在寫封信。

      2)過去進行時還表示過去某階段正在進行的動作。

      e.g. They were waiting for you yesterday .他們昨天一直在等你。

      二、過去進行時與一般過去時的區別:

      過去進行時:表示正在進行的動作。

      I was reading a novel last night.昨晚我在看小說。(可能還沒有看完)

      一般過去時:表示一個完成的動作。

      I read a novel last night .昨晚我看了一本小說。(已經看完了)

      二、以when和while引導的時間狀語從句

      1)延續性動詞指動作可以延續一段時間,而不是瞬間結束。如:work,study,drink,eat等。

      2)非延續性動詞指動作極為短暫,瞬間結束。如:start,begin,arrive,jump,go, finish,borrow,knock等。

      when表示“當……的時候”。它后面既可跟延續性動詞,又可跟非延續性動詞.

      如:Mary was having dinner when I saw her .(當我看到瑪麗的時候,她正在吃飯.)

      while表示“在……的時候”、“在……期間”。while后面必須是表示動作或狀態的延續性動詞。

      如:The weather was fine while we were in Beijing .(當我們在北京的時候天氣很好.)

      所以, when可指時間點,又可指時間段,從句中可用延續性動詞,也可用非延續性動詞。

      while總是指一個時間段,從句中必須用延續性動詞。
