【精析】 愛(ài)好體育的同學(xué)一定知道有些賽事分上、下半場(chǎng)，其表達(dá)法是：上半場(chǎng)in the first half (of the match), 下半場(chǎng)in the second half (of the match)。短語(yǔ)中介詞用in，并且序數(shù)詞前要加定冠詞the。
2. 【原文】 I play for our school's Aussie rules football team. (L. 64) play一詞在體育比賽中有那些用法？
【精析】 play后接運(yùn)動(dòng)名詞，表示從事某運(yùn)動(dòng)，運(yùn)動(dòng)名詞前無(wú)冠詞，如：play volleyball。play for可表示"效力于某運(yùn)動(dòng)隊(duì)"，如：Which team do you play for? 而play against有"與......對(duì)陣"的意思，如：We are going to play against the American team.
此外，介詞against（反義詞for）有"與......比賽；與......對(duì)陣；抗擊；對(duì)抗"等意思，如本課中的You said your next match was against a girls' team. 再如：
We are for peace and against war. 我們贊成和平，反對(duì)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)。
We will fight against the enemy. 我們要抗擊敵人。
Why are you always against me? 你為什么總是跟我作對(duì)？

【精析】 這四個(gè)詞在表示某項(xiàng)賽事時(shí)，各有側(cè)重。
sport通常指戶外運(yùn)動(dòng)，如足球、籃球、劃船、游泳等，還可作"運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)"講。例如：
Skating is one of the winter sports. 滑冰是冬季運(yùn)動(dòng)的一種。
We are going to have a school sports meeting next week. 下周我們要舉行一次學(xué)校運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)。
game一方面指戶外的體力運(yùn)動(dòng)，也指智力方面的運(yùn)動(dòng)，如游戲，下棋等，也可以表示大型運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)。如：
Children are playing a game. 孩子們正玩游戲。
The Olympic Games will be held in Beijing in 2008. 2008年奧運(yùn)會(huì)將在北京舉行。
match常用于預(yù)先安排好的正式比賽。如：
The American team won the football match. 美國(guó)隊(duì)贏了足球賽。
race主要用于賽跑，賽車等速度比賽。如：
Who can win the relay race, Class 3 or Class 4?誰(shuí)會(huì)贏得接力賽，一班還是二班？
